The Sarnia
Legionnaires face a crucial test
Saturday when they face off against the
Leamington Flyers in Greater Ontario
Junior 'B' Hockey League action.
WHEN:
Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
WHOSE HOT:
Sarnia: Jesse Drydak scored two goals in
the team's last outing, including a
beautiful, short-handed marker.
Leamington: Goalie Marc Tremblay got a
shutout Thursday when the Flyers thumped
the Lambton Shores Predators 4-0.
SIGNIFICANCE:
Both teams are off to a slow start.
Sarnia is 0-1-2, while Leamington is
1-2-0. Both have two points in the
standings and both are just two points
ahead of the last place Predators. If
Sarnia is to get its season turned
around, it can't afford to lose home
games like this one. Leamington, on the
other hand, could gain an edge on the
Legionnaires down the road if they can
steal a win out of the Brock Street
Barn.
STATS:
The Legionnaires have scored six goals,
while giving up 14 in their first three
games. The Flyers have scored seven,
while surrendering 11.
HISTORY:
Sarnia finished first in the Western
Conference last year, while Leamington
was fifth. But the clubs split six games
last winter, with both winning three
games. The Flyers broke Sarnia's seven
game winning streak at the start of the
2008/09 season by winning an OT game in
the Sarnia Arena.
