The home team
pressed hard for the equalizer for much of
the rest of the opening frame, with Owen
Rogers coming close to squaring matters on a
couple of occasions.
But after Sarnia failed to score with a two
man advantage, LaSalle took a 2-0 lead
heading into the dressing room.
The visitors
added another goal in the second frame and
three more in the third to walk away with an
easy win. The Legionnaires seemed to lack
drive after the first period, showing little
in the way of desire or intensity. "It was a
rough game, obviously we didn't come ready
to play,” captain Tyler Cicchini said. “The
good news is we can only go up. There are a
lot of young guys and they're still
learning.”
Perry said,
"The only thing we got right tonight was the
opening ceremonies."
Asked what
he'll have to change before the next game,
he said, “Everything. I wouldn't even know
where to start. We were bad in all three
zones and our special teams (were bad). The
only positive I can say is that Tanner
Tomlinson played a good game. Do the math.
The 19 others were all passengers.”
Goalie Connor
Lyons made 32 saves to get the shutout. Kyle
Washer stopped 39 of 45 shots in the Sarnia
net.
Chris Lemming
had two goals for the victors, while David
Sharpe, Chris DiNatale, Eric Noel and Sammy
Banga scored singles.
Legionnaires
president Tom Knight noted Sarnia had six
players out of the lineup, including Chase
Clark and Tanner Ferguson, who are hurt, and
Zack MacQueen, Tyler Peters, Anthony Donati
and Kyle Flemington, who are away at OHL
camps.
Sarnia is in
St. Thomas Sunday and home next Thursday to
the St. Marys Lincolns. Game time is 7:30
p.m.
