Sarnia Legionnaires
The Sarnia Legionnaires and the St.
Marys Lincolns
square off Thursday in Greater Ontario
Jr. 'B' Hockey League action.
WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 17, 7:30
p.m.
WHERE: Sarnia Arena.
WHOSE HOT:
SARNIA: Netminder Seth Anderson
was named the second star Sunday when
the Legionnaires picked up their first
point of the campaign during a 2-1
shootout loss to the St. Thomas Stars.
ST. MARYS: Centre Seth Griffith,
who wears No. 10, has two goals in two
games, as does left-winger Blair Brewer,
who wears No. 39.
SIGNIFICANCE: Sarnia, which is playing
its third game of the season,
desperately needs a win. The
Legionnaires are 0-1-1. A victory would
bring its record up to .500 and vault it
ahead of St. Marys in the standings.
STATS: Both teams are struggling
on special teams. Sarnia has yet to
score a powerplay goal, while St. Marys
is limping along with an efficiency rate
of only 11 percent. In the penalty
killing department, the Legionnaires
have been successful 75 per cent of the
time, while the Lincs have been good 68
per cent of the time.
HISTORY: Last year, the Lincs
were the only club in the nine-team
Western Conference to post a winning
record against the Legionnaires (they
won four and lost two). During one
memorable episode, Sarnia's rugged
defenceman, Kyle Flemington, fought to a
draw with Lincolns tough-guy Jamie
Commerford. Both are expected to be in
the lineup Thursday.
