The Sarnia Legionnaires will try to keep their hot streak going tonight when they host the LaSalle Vipers.
Here's a preview of the contest:
WHO – The Sarnia Legionnaires (19-19-6) vs the LaSalle Vipers (26-15-4)
WHEN – Thursday, Feb. 4, 7:30 p.m. Sarnia Arena.
SIGNIFICANCE – A win tonight would give Sarnia a four point bulge over St. Thomas in the fight for sixth place in the nine-team Western Conference of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. There's also the case of maintaining momentum with the playoffs rapidly approaching. Coach Jeff Perry's defending Western Jr. 'B' champion Legionnaires have picked up points in six of their last eight games. During their last two outings, they posted shutouts, crushing the Leamington Flyers 9-0 and the St. Thomas Stars 4-0. A win tonight would put them over the .500 mark and keep them moving in the right direction at a crucial time of the year.
WHOSE HOT:
Sarnia – Legionnaire goalie Kyle Washer has two shutouts in his last two starts. Right-winger Jesse Drydak is one goal away from his 30th of the season.
LaSalle – D. J. Turner has nine goals in his last five games, bringing his total for the campaign up to 42.
HISTORY – The Legionnaires and Vipers have split four games this season, with both winning twice on the road.
