The Sarnia Jr. Sting Novice Tier 1 recently competed
in the 44 annual "Strathroy Rep Olympics" hockey
tournament and went undefeated in 5 straight games
for their first tournament championship of the year.
In their opening game early Friday morning the
sting would take on the host Strathroy Rockets. The
Sting came out a little lackluster in the first
period but managed to put together two strong
periods for a 4-0 win. After a long layoff between
games the Sting took on the Tilsonburgh Tornadoes
for their 2nd game of the day and the sting came out
hungry firing on all cylinders and never let up
scoring a decisive 9-1 win over their visiting
counterparts.
The Sting had yet another early morning game
Saturday morning against the Woodstock Navy Vets.
The Sting showed no signs of fatigue skating to a
spirited 7-0 victory. That afternoon in their final
round robin game the Sing played the Listowel
Cylones and made up their minds they were going
to take their unbeaten streak to 4 games with an
impressive 7-1 win.
The Sting had a good night sleep followed by a
Sunday morning 9 am rematch with the the host
Rockets in the championship game. The Sting played
yet another determined, unselfish, "TEAM" game with
every player contributing and skating to a sound 6-0
championship victory.
