The Sarnia
Sting Minor Novice MD Hockey Club lost a heartbreaker at
their home rink, the Germain arena, 7-5 to Oakridge. Blake
Butler got the Sting on the board first, scoring his 22nd
goal of the season in the first period. The rest of
the 1st saw the teams battle with both goalies
making some outstanding saves. Ethan Langford was tremendous
in the net for the Sting.
The second
period was tough one for the young squad. Oakridge managed
to get three past young Langford. Adam Mino came in and
played excellent making several key saves to keep the Sting
in the game. Kaden Babcock scored on a bullet slap shot from
the point to get the Sting back in the game. Lleyton
Williams scored a beautiful goal to make the game promise to
have an exciting 3rd period.
In the
third, the Sting battled back with goals from Blake Butler,
and Wil O’Leary-Dilosa, with assists going to Butler,
O’Leary-DiLosa, and Tristan Konrad. The Sting made an
exciting game battling hard right till the final buzzer to
the delight of the home fans. Unfortunately Oakridge proved
to be too strong on this day. Connor Antosiak earned himself
the “hardest worker” hardhat for playing a strong game
defensively. |
