Oct 17-18th
Sarnia vs London Green:
Game one of the weekend's action was a goaltenders duel.
Each side had numerous chances in the 1st period, but
the score remained 0-0 at the buzzer. The 2nd period saw
London go up by 1 on a powerplay goal as both sides
fought hard for the edge. Sarnia's goalie made some
amazing saves keeping the Sting in it right to the end,
but despite the Sting's shooters trying as they might,
they could not get one past London's goaltender.
London held on to win this contest by a score of 1-0.
Zac Lippiatt played outstanding between the pipes
for the Sting.
Sarnia vs West London:
The boys travelled up the 402 Sunday night to face
the West London Hawks for the first time this year.
London got on the score sheet first but Sarnia made
it even 15 seconds later on a nice shot from
Derek D'Andrea helped out by Scott MacEachern
and Eric Hicks. Sarnia continued the
pressure and it paid off as Viktor Kovacs fed
Jeff Schroeter for the Sting's 2nd goal of
the period. Sarnia got their 3rd goal of the period
on a powerplay from D'Andrea with helpers
going to MacEachern and Stewart Fisher.
The Sting carried a 3-1 lead into the 2nd period,
where both sides had their chances but could not
score. In the 3rd period Sarnia ran into penalty
trouble, and the Hawks scored to come within one.
Sarnia potted their 4th goal of the night off the
stick of Jordan McBeath from D'Andrea
(who had 3 points on the night) and Hicks.
At the three minute mark London managed another
powerplay goal to come within one. Ben Johnson
came up with some pretty good saves in the dying
seconds to preserve the win as Sarnia skated away
with a 4-3 victory.
