Storm remain proud, despite finals loss

Mooretown ended their season with a 3-0 series sweep at the hands of Collingwood but remained proud of their playoff accomplishments.

Despite losing the OMHA Championship, there were many positives for this group of players to remain upbeat and head held high as there was nobody predicting this team to advance in the playoffs at the start of this season. This was a tough group of kids that played hard and always gave their best effort. This was a team all of Mooretown could be proud of.

Game One Recap: Collingwood 8  Storm 2

Rory Pickle and Bailey Smalls scored with assists to Smalls and Jared Pageau. Emma McMormick and Evan Musson shared goaltending duties. Collingwood came out hard and a case of nerves seemed to hit the Storm.

Game Two Recap: Collingwood 5  Storm 2

Emma McCormick was solid in goal with Elijah Contreras and Jared Pageau scoring goals. Logan Gardner picked up an assist. A much better performance by the Storm as they led 1-0 after one period. Trailing 3-2 after two periods Collingwood made it 4-2 with 9 minutes remaining and Mooretown pressed the rest of the game but gave up an empty netter for the 5-2 loss.

Game Three Recap: Collingwood 8  Storm 1

This game was over early as the Storm had no answer for the Collingwood onslaught. Mooretown would have pressure in the Collingwood end only to have them come down and score. It was a frustrating way to end the season but even with the lopsided score the kids never quit. Jared Pageau scored the lone goal and Evan Musson and McCormick split goaltending duties.

Mooretown was defeated by a better team in the finals. Congratulations go to Collingwood for their Finals Victory.

From coach Pageau "This group of Storm players was one of the hardest working teams I have ever been around. What they lacked in talent they made up for in HEART! Congratulations Storm on a very good season. You made us all proud."
