Storm in Cleveland for some trick or treats

Mooretown travelled to Cleveland to take part in the Warrior Tournament and came away with a 2-2 record.

On Friday the Storm were up against the Elyria Panthers and skated to a hard fought 5-3 victory. Emma McCormick was outstanding in net keeping the score close. Jared Pageau scored 4 goals with Aaron Dobson adding a single, which was the eventual game winner. Drawing assists were Drew Pepper and Bailey Smalls.

Saturday afternoon the Storm took the ice against hometown Cleveland Warriors and were defeated by a score of 5-3. It was a pretty even game but Mooretown could never get sustained pressure until they pulled the goalie with 2 mins left. Emma McCormick was once again sharp in net. Jared Pageau scored the 3 Mooretown goals with Bailey Smalls drawing an assist.

The Storm were supposed to play their game against Rocky River Saturday evening but they decided since they were 0-3 and this game meant nothing to them they decided to forefit so their little darlings could go trick or treating. The Mooretown staff were pretty upset about this decsion even though they were awarded a 6-0 victory, they came to play hockey not get forefits. Mooretown now had to win their 4th game Sunday morning to move onto the Championship game.

Sunday morning saw Mooretown up against the Cleveland Barons and right from the opening face off it was apparent Mooretown had too much candy the night before as the Barons skated them into the ground and controlled the play skating to a 5-0 shutout of the Storm. It was a very good team but Mooretown played a very lack lustre game. Emma McCormick was the lone bright spot for Mooretown as she kept the score to 5 but could have been much worse.

It was a very fun opening tournament for the team as the kids enjoyed themselves and so did the parents.
