Tme to Look
Ahead -- Junior B Hockey
Although the season is
over much earlier than was ever hoped for the future
does look good for the Lambton Shores Predators
Junior B hockey team.
"I
would like to thanks our fans, volunteers, players,
coaches, training staff and the arena staff for
all
their support and assistance this season, says Roop
Chanderdat, Co-owner, President and General Manager.
As an organization we hoped to have done a lot
better on the ice and our goal was to make the
playoffs. However we are excited by our future,
since all of our core players are young and have a
few years of Junior Hockey eligibility remaining.
These players have gained valuable Jr. B experience
this year and this should help them and our team
next year and in the future."
The
team finished the season off with three games last
week. On Tuesday night they were in Strathroy and
dropped that decision 7 – 2. They were playing them
tough after being down 3 – 0 in the first period and
the shots were even after two periods. By the mid
way point of the second they had closed the gap to 4
– 2. Matt Melo scored earlier in the period with
assists going to Adam Arseneault and Brandon
Stewart. Then Adam Arseneault scored on a power play
when Ben Woodley and Matt Melo assisted.
Unfortunately penalties for the Predators allowed
the Rockets to dominate the play in the third and
they made the final 7 – 2.
On Friday the Predators traveled to Chatham to make
up a game that had been postponed earlier in the
season. It was a hard fought close game, which saw
very few penalties assessed. Samir Joma opened the
scoring just 32 seconds after the puck dropped to
start the game. Coy Kulich earned an assist on that
goal. Then at 8:53 Cody Curts and Brandon Eithier
assisted on a goal by Duncan McSorley. Unfortunately
the lead didn’t hold up when the Maroons scored 3 in
the second half of the period to take a 3 – 2 lead.
The second period was scoreless. In the third
Chatham managed a short handed goal earlier in the
frame. The Predators did not quit and managed to
close the gap to as the Maroons were returning to
full strength. It was Kalvin Thornton scoring from
Duncan McSorley. There was no other scoring which
made the final 4 – 3 in favour of the Maroons.
Saturday night was Kinwood night at the Shores
Recreation Centre and 340 fans turned up to watch
what would be the last game for the Predators this
season. They were hosting the Sarnia Legionnaires
and got off to a good start when Kalvin Thornton
scored the first goal on a power play. Duncan
McSorley and Cody Curts assisted. Sarnia then
managed to score the next 6 goals in the game before
the Predators were able to answer back with another
power play goal at 12:33 of the third period. Coy
Kulich scored with Brent Andriash assisting. The
final was 6 – 2 for the Legionnaires.
