Compuware-Honeybaked
Invitational
September 18 -
20, 2009
The
Jr Sting Minor Pee Wees competed in
three games in the Compuware-Honeybaked
Invitational Tournament this past
weekend and came away with a record
of 2 wins and 1 loss.
Game one saw the Lambton squad with
an early Friday morning battle
against league rival, Windsor Jr
Spitfires. Windsor hit the ice with
an improved squad and was able to
keep things tight with the Jr Sting
for most of the game. In the end, a
solid goaltending effort from Kaden
Fulcher and a two goal performance
from Jared Marks paced the Jr Sting
to a 3-1 victory. Picking up the
third marker was Isaac McLean.
Game two had the Jr Sting matched up
against a highly ranked Pittsburgh
Hornets squad and again good
defensive play from the entire team
and the solid goaltending of Fulcher
and Jake Wilkins paced the team to a
2-1 victory. Scoring for the team
was provided by Marks and Brock
Perry.
After two victories the Jr Sting
were in for a tough early Saturday
morning match vs one of the top
ranked teams in the US and Ontario.
The squad representing the Little
Caesars organization came out strong
and were able to take advantage of a
shorthanded Lambton squad and cruise
to a 7-0 victory. The Jr Sting,
including a very busy Wilkins in
net, played well defensively but
couldn't get much going in the
offensive zone. Little Caesars went
on win the championship by a score
of 7-1 over Honeybaked.
The Jr Sting look to get healthy and
have a good week of practice before
they get ready to open league play
at the SSEC on Sunday. |
