The Minor Atom team were on the road recently to take on the Sun County Panthers at the Essex Arena,  This was a fast paced and fairly rough game which concluded with a 2-2 draw.

The Sting were definitely the better team for most of this game, dictating the flow of the game.  Nolan Farr opened the scoring midway through the first period, assisted Carson Payne and Curtis Marks.  In second period the Sting continued to create scoring chances including ringing the post on a point blank shot.  Defensively, the boys did a great job again, keeping the shots limited to the outside.  Alec Trusler had a great game using his good stiff poke check that frustrated forwards time and time again.  Early in the 3rd period the Sting went up by 2 as Cameron Rombouts tipped a shot from Theo Crombeen.  Sun County did pull with in 1 goal at the 4:08 mark of the 3rd period making the ending a little more interesting.  With under 2 minutes left to play the Sting were called for a penalty giving the Panthers an opportunity to have a 6 on 4 man advantage with the goalie pulled.  

The Panthers gained the zone and kept it there with the Sting scrambling to get it down the ice.  Just when it looked like the Sting were going to escape with the win, the unthinkable happened... Sun County scored with 1 second left on the clock.
