’95 Lambton Sting AAA go Undefeated
at
Alliance OHL Showcase in Kitchener
The Lambton Jr. Sting Major Bantam
AAA hockey team travelled to
Kitchener on the weekend to
participate in the Alliance OHL
Showcase. The Sting exceeded
expectations by going undefeated and
earning 3 wins and a 1 tie.
In their first game Lambton earned a
2 – 2 tie with Cambridge. Scoring
for Lambton was Davis Prince and
Ryan Frizzell. Assists went to Jeff
Sit, Ryan Trottier and DJ Sapone.
Player of the game honors went to
Ryan Frizzell.
Game two had the team skating to a
convincing 5 – 2 victory over the
London Knights Green squad. Ryan
Frizzell supplied two goals, while
Jeff Sit, Adam Lane and DJ Sapone
picked up single markers. Nick
Sproviero, Kirk Dorman and Connor
McKinnon had two assists, while
Davis Prince, DJ Sapone, Nick Zottl,
and Ryan Trottier each chipped in
with single assists. Player of the
game went to goalie John Boric.
Saturday afternoon saw the Sting
fall behind 3 – 0 to Brantford early
in the game. The boy’s fought back
in a very entertaining game to earn
a 5 – 4 victory. Nick Sproverio led
the way with 3 goals and 2 assists.
Mathew Brandon sealed the victory
with a nifty goal with under a
minute to go. Kirk Dorman added a
goal and two helpers. Ben Morrison
and Nick Zottl picked up single
assists. Matthew Brandon received
player of the game honors.
On Sunday the Sting fought tooth and
nail, squeaking out a 4 – 3 win over
Waterloo. Scoring for the Sting
were Mitch DeRush-Pageau, Matthew
Brandon, and Ryan Trottier each had
one goal and one assist, while Ryan
Frizzell scored the other goal.
Nick Zottl chipped in with two
assists, while Kirk Dorman and Chad
Beauchamp each picked up single
assists. John Boric picked up the
victory between the pipes.
Defensemen Nick Zottl earned player
of the game honors.
Despite the loss of their top two
scorers from the previous year the
’95 Lambton Sting AAA are undefeated
in 5 their past 5 games and sit in 2nd
place in the Alliance, with a record
of 4 -1 -1. Next up, the ’95 Sting
play Brantford and London Knights
Gold at home on Sunday and Monday
respectively. |
