’95 Lambton Sting AAA Compete In
Markham Tournament
The Lambton Jr. Sting Major Bantam
AAA hockey team travelled to Markham
to compete in the Markham Majors AAA
hockey tournament. The Sting blew a
2 – 1 third period lead in their
fourth contest to erase any chance
of moving on to the semi finals.
The boys finished with 2 wins and 2
loses.
In their first game Lambton
outskated the Pittsburgh Viper Stars
to a 5 – 3 victory. Nick Sproviero
led the way with 2 goals and 2
assists. Single goals went to Kirk
Dorman, Matthew Brandon and Adam
Lane. Assists went to Ryan Trottier,
Chad Beauchamp and Matthew Brandon.
Sproveiro picked up game MVP honors.
Game two had the team skating to a
convincing 5 – 3 victory over the
Hamburgh Hawks. Ryan Trottier led
the attack with a hat trick. Single
goals went to Ben Morrison and Jeff
Sit. Kirk Dorman picked up two
helpers while Sit, Matthew Brandon
and Ryan Frizzell each had one.
Trotter garnered game MVP honors.
Saturday morning saw the Sting fall
to the Amherst Kings 4 – 2. Ryan
Trottier and Kirk Dorman each had a
goal. Ryan Frizzell, Davis Prince,
Nick Sproveiro and Matthew Brandon
each picked up an assist.
Saturday night saw the Sting short 4
skaters, blow a 2 – 1 third period
lead, falling 4 – 2 to the Central
Ontario Wolves. Scoring for the
Bantams was Nick Sproviero and
Matthew Brandon. Mitch
DeRush-Pageau and Kirk Dorman picked
up assists. Chad Beauchamp picked
up game MVP honors.
Next up for the Sting, is a double
header in Kitchener-Waterloo on
Saturday, with an afternoon tilt
with the Kitchener Rangers and an
evening game with the Waterloo
Wolves. |
