The Sarnia Lady Jr.
Sting advanced to the Provincial Championships
with a 2-0 Win in the Regional qualifiers over
the Lakeshore Lightning.
The two teams had
battled to a 0-0 draw in game one in Sarnia.
Ashley Norland earned the shutout. Game two in
Lakeshore saw Amy McCormick connect early for
the Sting with an assist to Haven Gibson.
Lakeshore even the score in the third with 6
minutes to go, setting up a winner takes all
showdown in Sarnia for game 3. Nichole Will had
a strong game in the Sting goal.
A short handed tally
in game 3 by Ashley Williams set the tone for
the Lady Sting in the first period. Vanessa
Wardell ripped a hard shot past the Lakeshore
keeper on a feed from Tabetha Duquette in the
second period to give the team a cushion. Ashley
Norland, between the pipes, shut the door the
rest of the way to allow the PeeWee B Lady's to
earn a berth at the Provincial Championships
April 9-11 in Mississauga. The team would like
to than their sponsors Scotiabank, Douglass
Mechanical, BlueWater Sleep Clinic and Noyle
Investments for helping make the season a
tremendous success to date.
