Sarnia vs St. Thomas
October 31, 2009
After taking a weekend off from there regular
season schedule, the Sarnia Lady Sting Peewee "A" were back in
action by beating St. Thomas 1-0.
The first period the girls came out a little
flat offensively but were able to keep the score tied at 0 thanks to the
solid defensive play. Mackenzie Wilson broke the tie after she was credited
with lone goal of the game. Hard forechecking created enough pressure on
their defenceman and in turn she fired it into her own net. The teams played
very evenly from that point on. Naomi Dubs came up big when she was called
on, making some timely saves recording her second shutout of the season.
Last weekend the girls competed in the second
annual Hocktoberfest hockey tournament in Windsor. After winning 4 of the
first 5 games Sarnia faced off against St Catherines Chaos for the final,
battling injuries and the flu bug the girls gave it their best but came up
just short 4-0 settling for second place.
Next up for the girls is a double header next
Saturday November 7, against Stratford
