The Sarnia Lady Sting Midget AA girls opened
their season with a well played 2-0 win over the
St. Thomas Panthers. Sarnia dominated the
majority of the game and received some great
support from the strong defensive team of
Mackenzie Dark, Daniel Girard, Amy VandenEynde,
Melissa Kelly and Kelsey Dobbin.
Sarnia opened the scoring in the first when
Sierra Butler found the lose puck in front of
the net and put in past a very strong net minder
for the Panthers. Assisting on the play, were
Danielle Girard and Alicia MacDougall. The score
remained the same through the second, but Sierra
Butler would once again find the back of the net
in the third period to put Sarnia up 2-0.
Picking up the assists on the goal, were Alicia
MacDougall and Erica Bucci.
Mallory Mullin was
in net for the Sting and stopped a barrage of
shots to earn a well deserved shut out.
Sarnia is off now
until the weekend of the 16th when they travel
to Toronto for the Aeros tournament.
