The Sarnia
Midget AA Lady Sting faced a tough opponent
on Wednesday night for their first matchup
of the season. Sarnia came out strong right
from the drop of the puck against the second
place Cambridge Roadrunners.
It was a very fast paced game, with many
scoring chances, and great goaltending
at both ends of the rink. The first
period was scoreless, but halfway through
the second Sarnia's Sierra Butler would find
the back of the net on a powerful slapshot on
the power play. Marlowe Pecora assisted on
the play.
The Sting continued to dominate the game and
when Cambridge pulled their goalie to try
and tie things up in the dying minutes of
the game, Danielle Girard would score all
the way from the opposite end of the ice.
The empty net goal cemented the
win for Sarnia. Final score 2-0. Marlowe
Pecora also got the assist on Girard's goal.
Cassie Kerrigan did an outstanding job in
net for the Sting, earning yet another
shutout.
Sarnia is home
this coming Sunday the 6th of December to
face the Waterloo Ravens at the RBC center
2:30 game time.
