Sarnia Lady
Sting Midget AA team had two games this
week. The first was Thursday Dec. 10th in
St. Thomas.
Sarnia opened
the scoring very early in the first period.
Daniel Girard sent a hard slap shot in from
the point, which led to a scramble in front
of the net. Eric Bucci managed to find the
puck and tuck it away. Sierra Butler and
Alicia MacDougall both picked up assists on
the play. Sarnia continued to press early
and after some hard work from Megan Moore
she scored a beautiful goal on a wrap
around.
Unfortunately, the referee would call the
goal off as he believed the net had come
off. The Panthers did manage to tie things
up a few minutes later, but with only 34
seconds left in the period, Karly Dobbin
made a few beautiful moves to get around two
panther players and fake out the goalie to
bring Sarnia up 2-1. It was unassisted. St.
Thomas would once again tie things up in the
second, and eventually score the game winner
late in the third. Final score 3-2 Panthers.
Cassie Kerrigan played a great game in net
for the Sting.
Sarnia was home
on Sunday to face the Windsor Wildcats.
Despite outshooting and outplaying Windsor
the entire game, the Sting could not get
past their strong net minder. The game
finished scoreless, giving Sarnia only one
point.
Mallory Mullin
earned another impressive shutout, her
fourth of the season.
