The Lady Sting Bantam B
captured Silver at the Stratford Aces Tournament
this past weekend. Sarnia started strong against
Scarborough with a 5-0 win. Alex Godfrey led the way
with 2 goals and an assist. Also scoring were Jorrie
Kirby with 2 and Jenelle Labadie a goal and an
assist. Assist also went to Emily Donkers, Katelin
Williams and Amy Rawlings. Brittany Quackenbush
registered the shut- out. Sarnia's second game did
not have the same result as Ilderton defeated the
Bantam B's by a score of 4-2.Sarnia's scorer's were
Labadie and Williiams with the assists given to
Kirby and Rawlings.
Although she played a great
game Melissa Bennett took the lose. Game 3 was a
must win to advance to the semi's and the girls did
not disappoint as Nathalie Pringle's hat trick led
Sarnia to a 5-1 win.
Godfrey and Kirby added to
their goal tally while assists went to Emily Regan
and Makenna Harrison[2] and Quackenbush got her
second win. The semi final game was versus a strong
Walkerton Capitals that had gone undefeated in round
robin play. The game was aback and forth affair till
in the second period when a shot from the slot by
Labadie beat the Walkerton netminder. Sarnia's
Melissa Bennett then shut the door on any scoring
chances making an number of great saves especially
late in the third period for the win. The
Championship game against the Kincardine Canuks
seemed a continuation
of the semi final. Both teams
had numerous chances each hitting posts and being
stopped by great goaltending. As time in the third
period was nearing the final minute before overtime
Kincardine slipped one past Quackenbush for the
win.Sarnia played the last minute with the extra
attacker but were unable to score. A great effort
came from all players including Emily Hodgins,
McKayla Eves, Carly Stamm, Danielle Quinn and
Brianne Biggers to bring the Silver Medal home.
