2009 Stanley Keg Champions - Fenwick
Red Wings
The 2009/2010
race for Lord Stanley’s Keg began in earnest as 8 thirsty
teams began a sobering chase for the elusive dry container
of golden suds.
It appears as
though the Baby G’s Pizza Islanders may be a team to watch
this year as they trounced the possum-playing Natsco
Mechanical Avalanche 10-3. Dave “Peca” Knight led the
orange crush with 4 goals and a helper.
The newly
re-tooled Al’s Gas and Variety Sharks were stunned 11-3 by
the overpowering Bluewater Power Leafs. It’s back to the
machine shop for the frustrated Sharks.
Mat “Pez” Brown
led the uncharacteristically quiet Stokes Bay Bruins,
earning himself the first shutout of the season by cruising
past the Barb Bonnema Penguins 5-0. It seems that Penguin
GM Smiley Armstrong’s off-season acquisitions designed to
add more scoring punch up front by moving him from the point
has hit a snag.
The matinee game
saw a rematch of last years Stanley Keg final with the
Fenwick Red Wings facing off against the Team Outfitters
Punishers. Although it was a close one, please refer to the
above picture for the similar result…..
