Week 8

Eight games into the season find the Stokes Bay Bruins still undefeated while the Barb Bonnema Penguins are still looking for their first two-point outing.  The rest of the league remains log-jammed in the middle:

Standings Pts
1. Stokes Bay Bruins  16
2. Baby G’s Pizza Islanders    11
3. Fenwick Red Wings   9
4. Team Outfitters Punishers       8
5. Natsco Mechanical Avalanche  7
5. Bluewater Power Leafs   7
7. Als’s Gas and Variety Sharks  5
8. Barb Bonnema Penguins        1

Al’s Gas and Variety Sharks were overpowered 7-4 by the Bluewater Power Leafs in the first game of the day.  Leaf Nation president Mike Hart notched 3 in the victory while Darcy Jacob’s 2 late goals in the third weren’t enough to help the Sharks rally.  Earlier in the week, Bluewater defenseman Sanchez Vosburg publicly outted himself as a marginal player with bad hands and a sour on-ice disposition.  Leafs GM Tadpole Vaillancourt came to his defence stating “He’s like a son to me.  Everyone knew about his lack of skill at the draft.  Why are we still talking about this in 2009?”

Barb Bonnema Penguins could only muster 6 skaters as they were harpooned by the Stokes Bay Bruins

12-1. On positive notes for the Penguins, Steve McDonald thinks his truck is getting better mileage lately, Jim Rose is pretty much done his Christmas shopping and Curtis Williams is happy with his new barber.  Bruin needle-man Squid MacDonald thanked Penguin power forward joelhookey.com for once again not showing up, choosing instead to book his aromatherapy appointment for game times when the Penguins face the Bruins.

Baby G’s Islanders cruised to any easy 9-3 win over Natsco Mechanical Avalanche.  Dave “Peca” Knight led the Islanders with 3 while holding Natsco’s league-leading scorer Mr. X to only one point.  This is not good news for Mr. X who sadly still believes he’ll be getting a New Years Eve call from Stevie Yzerman.

An unprecedented third period collapse saw the Fenwick Red Wings blow a 5 goal lead, resulting in a 7-7 tie with the Team Outfitters Punishers. Aaron Johnston, with the help from Fenwick blue-liner “Turkey Dinner” Schultz, led the Punisher charge with 4 unassisted goals in the third. A wobbly Sanfransisco Sickle took time out from his 3 day birthday bender to add 2 of his own. “Slapchop” Lalande recorded his first career hat trick for the Wings who have now officially expanded their third period party point spread to 6.
