Week 5
Natsco Mechanical Avalanche 12 - Fenwick Red Wings 8
The Natsco
Mechanical Avalanche have appeared to have awoken from their
October hibernation knocking off defending champ Fenwick Red
Wings 12-8 to notch their second victory in as many weeks
while handing the Wings their second loss in a row. Mr. X
accounted for 5 goals direct from centre ice, or more
commonly known around the league as Hooverville. Even a
between-period call by the reeling Red Wings to the
Kitchener Cherry Festival for advice backfired as they stuck
with their bizarre game plan of sending both D in deep
behind the Avalanche net. Wing centre Pat Hillman was
Halloween player of the game, giving away numerous goodies
to appreciative Natsco forwards. Red Wing underachieving
duo Lally and Wally remained consistent with a combined -24
rating.
Baby G’s
Pizza Islanders 6 – Team Outfitters Punishers 3
Islander
rookie Mike Anning provided the scoring punch with 3 goals
as well as bouncing 2 more off Ben Thornton’s helmet while
doubling the Team Outfitters Punishers 6-3. After the game
when Anning was asked if he and Thornton practiced the
unorthodox ricochet shot he replied “Yeah, all the
time….Benny was wearing a helmet???” The Outfitters find
themselves in a two game skid while the Islanders remain a
team to watch.
Stokes Bay
Bruins 8 – Al’s Gas and Variety Sharks 1
In what
appears to be a Stokes Bay trend this year, the Bruin
bullies crushed the Al’s Gas and Variety Sharks 8-1 to
remain undefeated bringing their record to 5-0. Strong goal
tending behind Pez Brown as well as a commitment to less
whining and more old time hockey seem to be just the right
combination. Travis Parsons was the only scorer for the
Sharks against his old team mates while 6 different numbers
scored for Stokes. As the Bruins head into next weeks
pivotal match up with a strong Islander squad, Stokes’ team
deadbeat and lead hatchet man Skinnbo Slice has guaranteed a
victory while putting a bounty on the head of Islander
Captain Bumchin Murphy.
Bluewater
Power Leafs 6 – Barb Bonnema Penguins 5
Those pesky
Penguins continue to trudge along in the quest for their
first win of the season. They were outlasted by the
Bluewater Power Leafs 6-5 in a close affair that saw Bonnema
powerhouse Shawn Urban strike with two goals while Doc
Hislop responded with 3 of his own for the Leafs. Just to
confirm that nobody slipped a rohypnol in your morning
coffee:
Leafs Win, Urban Scores 2.
