Sue Weir

Master Swimmer
 

Sue Weir was born in Hamilton Ontario and moved to Sarnia in 1989.  Weir began swimming in 1984 at the age of 28 and started competing in earnest in 1993 at the age of 36.  Her best competitive events were the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly and backstroke.  Over the last 20 years she has won more than 200 medals nationally and internationally.

 

Weir broke her first record in 1996 at age 39. She broke four Canadian records and 75 provincial records.  Currently holds 26 provincial records. 

 

Weir also attended three World Master Championships and won a medal at each.  She earned top 5 rankings provincially and 10 nationally.  In 1998 she was ranked 10th in the world for 2 events. (100m backstroke, 100m butterfly)
