contributions to sports beyond athletic endeavors, ie: media, coach, official, trainer etc.

 


Sippie Scholtens

Coach/Official

 

After moving to Sarnia from Chatham Sippie organized and managed the Blackwood Gordon Softball team that won many Ontario Michigan League Championships.  He was President of the Bluewater Softball league and served as an Ontario Amaterur Softball Association Convenor.  In 1974 Sippie was the manager of Sarnia Bopra Junior Softball team that won the Ontario Championship. 

 

Sippie was also involved in local hockey managing various teams such as the Petrolia Intermediate A team and the Forest Boyds.  He then became involved with the Petrolia Squires Senior Hockey team and was vice president when they won the Allen Cup in 1979 and 1981.  In 2001 he was co-chairman of the Sarnia Allan Cup committee.  Sippie was previous inducted into the Sarnia Lambton Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 as manager of the Sarnia Bobpra’s softball club.
