The
1958-59 Sarnia Legionnaires were the most successful Jr.
‘B’ hockey team in Sarnia history. The squad won 33
games and lost only 3 during the 36-game regular season,
giving the team the best win-loss record of any club in
the 60 years that Sarnia has had a Jr. ‘B’ hockey team.
The team
opened the season with 12 wins in a row, followed by a
loss in the thirteenth game in Overtime. The team would
then respond by winning the next 14 games. The team
scored 301 regular season goals while only surrendering
106. The team would also rack up six shutouts.
In the Playoffs the
Legionnaires won the Western Jr. ‘B’ Hockey League
championship and the Sutherland Cup as all-Ontario
champions.
