Athlete
(Swimming, boxing, basketball, football, track and field, golf
and bowling)
Jack
was an all around athlete at Sarnia Collegiate Institute
and Technical School (SCITS) participating in swimming,
boxing, basketball, football and track and field.
(1944-47)
Jack was a heavy weight boxing champion and he played for
both the senior football and basketball teams that
advanced to the Western Ontario Secondary School Assoc.
finals (1945-47). In track and field he was first in
the Javelin and Discus throws at Western Ontario Secondary
School Association competitions (1946-47).
In 1947 he was named the all around Senior Athlete of the
Year at the Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical
School. From 1947-50 he played for the Sarnia
Imperials Football Club in the Ontario Rugby Football
Union. Jack was an exceptional baseball player
participating in the Inter County Baseball League and the
Big "6" Baseball League. (1944-50)
In 1948 he
had the most home runs in the City Softball Assoc.
Basketball prowess was exhibited
by participating in the Sarnia Senior Basketball League
and in the YMCA Senior Basketball League (1947-51).
At golf Jack's credits include the club championship at
Greenwood Golf Club in 1966-67 and runner-up in 1969 and
1970. Jack was a flight and low gross champion at
Victoria Estates Golf Club in Port Charlotte, Florida
