The Sarnia Imperials
season ended on Saturday as they fell 35 - 13 in
game 1 of playoffs against the Toronto Mad Dogs.
The Imperials traveled with 22 players as injuries
and work commitments shortened the bench. Both
sides had to deal with wet weather conditions.
Offensively Ryan
Lounsbury came up big with 131 yards on only 5
catches. On one of the catches Lounsbury ran
70 yards for a touchdown. He also chipped in
with a convert. Quarterback Adrien Brown was
absent due to injuries and Steve Archer and Terry
Mitchell took over the role and threw a combined
total of 167 yards and went 9 for 14. The
final touchdown for the Imperials was early in the
4th quarter by Matt Browning on a 17 yard pass,
however he was injured on the line and sat out for
the remainder of the game with a mild concussion.
On the defensive side
Chad VanBarneveld led the team with 7 tackles and 1
sack, closely followed by P.J. Jackson who had 5
tackles. Terry Mitchell before leaving the
game up with 2 interceptions and Ricky Gorton
chipped in with a few tackles and a fumble recovery
as well.
