ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating

Sheffield, England

September 29 - October 3, 2010

Margaret Purdy and Michael Marinaro are no strangers to hard work, in fact they thrive on it.  They are coming off of an extremely successful season that brought them the Junior National Championship title, two successful international debuts and an 8th place Junior World ranking.

Regardless of these triumphs, Mike and Margaret continue to develop and push themselves technically, creatively and physically.  They've chosen challenging pieces of music to skate to this year that demand a commitment to story telling on ice.

Their short program is a strong and passionate flamenco piece while their long is a piano and violin rendition of Alexandre Desplat's Twilight.  Both selections have already stretched this pair into a more powerful team as you cannot help but get sucked in by their performance and their technical elements seem to flow out of them as if they were merely choreography.

Margaret and Mike have upped their technical package this year as well.  They now compete three different throw triples, side by side triple jumps, a triple twist and some new and exciting lifts.

Their pre-season events in Detroit and Indianapolis this summer showed that they were ready to take the step up into the senior ranks and push themselves for consistency with high risk elements.

This week marks the beginning of their international season as they travel to their first junior grand prix of the year in Sheffield, England.

The pair will compete today in the short program. (Sept 30)
