New Basketball Club is Recruiting Coaches and Players
Sarnia, ON – October 1, 2010 — The Sarnia Flames
basketball club established in 2008 is currently looking
for qualified coaches and players to join their
program. “Our goal is to run teams at every age group
from grades 4-12 for girls and eventually boys as well.”
Said club president, Diane Galvin. “Sarnia has a rich
history of basketball clubs and programs but there are
still a lot of kids missing out.” The Sarnia Flames
offers a competitive program that will develop and
improve individual as well as team skills, promote good
sportsmanship, team spirit and encourage club loyalty.
Try-outs are scheduled to begin on October 17 and the
club is looking for community volunteers who are
interested in coaching. “We already have some very good
coaches in our system who will serve as mentors to new
comers, but we are also hoping to attract some seasoned
coaches to our system.” Said Galvin. The club is
registered with both Ontario Basketball and the Amateur
Athletic Union (AAU) in the States providing coaches
with a wide range of options when developing their
schedules for the season.
Anyone interested in playing or coaching can print off
the try-out schedule or the coaching application form or
contact Diane Galvin at 519-867-2139 for more
