INDIANS ADVANCE
TO ROUND 2
The Alvinston Indians jumped on the
Glanworth Gators early and often on Wednesday evening.
The Indians counted two runs in the first, three more in
the third, and added a single run in the 4th, en route
to a 6-2 victory. John Ferguson was the winning pitcher
for the Indians, going three innings and allowing 2
runs, in which both were unearned. He struckout 4 and
allowed 2 hits. Brad Young came in in relief, tossing 4
innings of shutout ball, allowing 3 hits, while striking
out 7. Scoring for the Indians were Chris Drew (2),
Scott Smith (2), Theo Metron, and Andy Triest. Driving
in the runs were Jamie Shields (2), Smith, Metron, Drew,
and Ryan Chapman. Jamie Shields delivered the big hit
to make it 5-0 and put the game out of reach when he had
a 2 rbi single in the bottom of the third. Chris Drew
reached base on each occasion, going 2/2 with a triple
and double, a walk, a hit by pitch, 2 runs, and an rbi.
The Indians defeated Glanworth 2 games to none in the
best of three series, and now will advance to round 2
against an undetermined opponent to this point. Round 2
will start next week! |
