ALVINSTON OPENS
PLAYOFFS WITH WIN
Last evening, the Alvinston
Indians defeated the Glanworth Gators in game one of the
playoffs, 4-1. The game was a 1-1 affair until the
bottom of the fifth inning, when Alvinston counted the
go ahead run, and they they tagged on two insurance runs
in the bottom half of the sixth inning to secure the
win.
John Ferguson started the game for the Indians, and was
effective, but unfortunately received no run support.
The one run he allowed was unearned. Brad Young came in
in relief and earned the victory, allowing 2 hits, in 2
2/3 innings pitched. Chris Drew was 2/2 for Alvinston
with 2 rbi's, while Joe Triest was 2/3 with three runs
scored and one rbi. Scott Smith drove in the other run
on a 2/4 evening at the plate. Andy Triest scored the
other run for Alvinston.
Brent MacPherson scored the lone run for Glanworth.
